VISAS & Letters of Invitation
The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the conference organizers in any way. All expenses incurred in relation to the conference are the sole responsibility of the delegate. To receive a letter of invitation, delegates must first register for the conference. It is the individual’s responsibility to investigate any visa requirements needed to visit Slovenia, and directly apply for any visa(s) necessary.
FOR DELEGATES WHO REQUIRE AN ENTRY VISA, PLEASE ALLOW ENOUGH TIME FOR THE APPLICATION PROCESS (AT LEAST 30 DAYS).
PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR DELIVERY OF LETTER OF INVITATION BY POST.
LETTER OF GUARANTEE / VISA REQUIREMENTS
For citizens of many but not
all countries, a valid passport (or personal identity card for residents of EU)
is sufficient to enter Slovenia. Participants are advised to check visa
requirements at the nearest Slovene embassy or consulate. Information on visas
and addresses of Slovene embassies is available on the web site of the Slovene
Ministry of Foreign Affairs at
http://www.mzz.gov.si.
Participants who need a visa to enter Slovenia have to request a Letter of
Guarantee which will be prepared by the Organising Committee. The visa cannot be
obtained without a Letter of Guarantee which is intended to facilitate
participant’s visa arrangements only, and does not imply the provision of any
financial or other support.
In case you will apply for a visa at any Slovene embassy please fill out the
form below completely in order to arrange a Letter of Guarantee and fax it to
+386-1-24-17-296 or send it attached in an email to the address
registration@cd-cc.si to the technical organiser, Cankarjev dom, at least
one month before the arrival.
The organiser is authorised to demand payment of registration fee before the
visa procedure starts. Please note that all costs are to be covered by the
participant (verification tax and DHL post costs if needed).

The Republic of Slovenia, the member of the European Union is situated in Central Europe, in the south of limestone Alps, where different regions and climates meet. LJUBLJANA – YOUR HOST CITY
Ljubljana`s geographical position has governed its colourful past. Through the history, a brisk migration of nations flowed through the Ljubljana gateway. During the Roman hegemony the town was called Emona. Ljubljana is first mentioned in written sources from 1144, its historical rise beginning into the 13th century when it became the Capital of the Province of Carniola. Ljubljana had an important role in Napoleonic times, even being the Capital of the entire Illyrian province between 1809 and 1813.
Ljubljana is today the capital city of the independent state of Slovenia, the heart of political, economic, cultural and scientific life of Slovene nation. Numerous churches, theatres, museums, galleries, the castle, which is about a thousand years old, as well as excellent restaurants with traditional food, give Ljubljana a reputation of being a modern town and one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.
HOW TO GET TO LJUBLJANA
By Train
Ljubljana is an important railroad junction and can be reached by trains from all major European cities. The railway station is within walking distance of the city centre.

By Air
Ljubljana is best served by Ljubljana International Airport at Brnik 23 km northwest of the city, with daily connections to most major European cities. From Brnik airport, Ljubljana can be easily reached either by bus service to Ljubljana bus station (about 10 EUR) or by taxi (about 40 EUR).

GENERAL INFORMATION
OFFICIAL LANGUAGE
The official language of the conference is English. No simultaneous translation will be provided.
REGISTRATION / INFORMATION DESK (1st Foyer, Congress Centre)
All participants should check in at the registration desk upon arrival.
All information on hotel accommodation, social and tourist programme as well as general information will be available at the registration/information desk.
The registration desk will be open throughout the Conference.
BADGES AND IDENTIFICATION
Upon registration, each participant will receive a name badge, to be worn all times during the Conference activities and social events.
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES
Certificate of Attendance will be available from the conference secretariat on request.
COFFEE BREAKS
During session breaks, refreshments will be served free of charge to participants wearing conference identification badges.
MESSAGE BOARD
You will find daily information about the programme and personal messages on the Message board near the registration desk.
LIABILITY AND INSURANCE
All participants are reminded that neither the Organising Committee nor the technical organiser Cankarjev dom, Cultural and Congress Centre are liable for any losses, accidents, or damage to persons or private property. Participants and accompanying persons are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of health and travel insurance.
MONEY EXCHANGE
Foreign currency may be exchanged at banks, exchange offices, travel agencies, hotels, airports and railway stations. There is a bank in the immediate vicinity of the Congress Centre.
Slovenian official currency is EUR.
AUTOMATIC CASH DISPENSERS
Automatic cash dispensers accepting Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, American Express credit cards and Maestro Cirrus are situated at all main banks in Ljubljana and also at Ljubljana Airport. The nearest cash dispenser to the Congress Centre is at the main entrance to the Maximarket department store located 50 metres from the conference venue.
CREDIT CARDS
All major credit cards, such as American Express, Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners, are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops.
ELECTRICITY
Electricity in Slovenia is 220V; 50Hz. Continental Europe (Schuko) plugs are used.
DRINKING WATER
Tap water is safe to drink in Slovenia.
TIME
One hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+1).
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Ljubljana has a good bus transportation system payable with tokens (available at a reduced price in post offices and at the Conference Registration Desk) or cash. A flat rate fare applies, regardless of the distance travelled. Also available are daily and weekly passes.
SHOPPING
Many antique shops, sales galleries, arcades, and the open-air market create the spirit of the Old Town. Normal shopping hours during the week are 9.00 to 19.00, Saturdays 9.00 to 13.00. On Sundays, there is a flea market in the Old Town, along the Ljubljanica riverbanks just off the Triple Bridge. .
